  1. I blame yesterday for being the 12th.

  2. I can't believe that some of you have become so old and cynical that you're finding (ridiculous) ways to shit all over Kairi Sane. So she couldn't run off a string of ***** matches in a tournament format where half the participants were as green as Muto's mist? So fucking what. She did everything that you could or would expect a babyface to do, including (and most importantly) letting her opponents differentiate themselves and showcase what they could do. This talking point of "Bazler should have gone over" is just silly. Why, pray tell, should the obviously less experienced wrestler have gone over one who is already being touted as being one of the best in the world? Particularly when you want to build Shayna as a heel, what better motivation than she acting on the idea that Kairi stole "her tournament" and coming for revenge, blindsiding Kairi in true heel fashion. What would you rather have, the MMA gal with the ho-hum record beats one of the best wrestlers in the world first time out? Yeah, that makes your product look great.

  14. Not to be glib, but isn't that a sign she's really good*, and brought a lot to the matches she was in? A babyface that can stack up clean wins without the opponent looking worse off for losing is both rare and incredibly valuable. That she managed it with opponents who were mostly either very young or very new at this is even more impressive. There really wasn't much buzz that Blanchard and/or Belair ought to be future stars before they wrestled Kairi, and I don't know that anyone else in the tournament was going to do that for them. And Baszler was really good in this match, but I think it's telling that she was given Yim, Candice, Martinez, and Kairi: All of whom would have been considered the most experienced and steadiest hands in the tournament, before it started. As for the wrong person going over... In a pro wrestling tournament, pro wrestling should ultimately beat MMA. And to their credit, that's pretty much the story they told. Baszler's crucial errors occurred when rope running and on the turnbuckle--classic pro wrestling stuff--and Kairi capitalized. I'd also note this was a unique story/structure, and not just Sane hitting her spots. They probably also see more value in Kairi either winning the NXT title, or putting over the person who does, because--developmental territory nor not--NXT is a touring brand that needs experience up top. I also think it's likely Baszler is never going to feature prominently in NXT anyway--she's 37 already (older, actually, than Martinez) and missed at least two fights near the end of her career due to injury--and you can still get just as much heat on the eventual 4 Horsewomen match, because that was always about Rousey anyway. *I'd suggest she's better even than that, but I've seen more of her than this tournament.

  18. That won't happen unless people do something horrible like quoting just that first part with your name over and over on message boards like "Yeah, I mean, in context, the pre-teen orgy...." - Brian Fowler, 2017. But how or why would anyone do that? I mean, maybe if they had a grudge over your irrational hatred of a beloved 5th entry in an iconic film franchise and the perky adorable party girl who stole the show....but I can't think of anyone who would hold that grudge. Can you?

  22. It's weird hearing the matches without the crowd sweetening. Then, there's this odd pairing... Am I crazy, or is that Stu Hart just hanging out at the curtain? Was this match from the same tv taping loop where Bret won the belt? I know he's said they flew Stu in. Also, sweet David Puddy 8-Ball jacket that guy at ringside has.

  25. USC claiming that they are 4-0 all time versus Texas because their 2005 season record is officially 0-0 after vacating all their wins and thus the 2006 Rose Bowl loss never happened is my favorite thing ever. But even still, fuck Vince Young.

  27. Watched Colossal last night with my wife. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Hathaway was good as usual, and Jason Sudeikis was surprisingly good in a more dramatic, "casting against type" role. Plot probably has a lot of holes if I think about it overmuch, but tone and plot are not what you expect going in, so it plays out sort of surprisingly. Wife and I were arguing about whether to read the movie as commentary on how badly we act when we feel rejected by someone we love, or if it's simply a cautionary tale about power corrupting.

  28. I had to curse out some asshole here in the 804 on post yesterday. Some old retired Army fuck was in the process of chewing out the service person because of the high price for gas. I stepped in and was like, "The refineries are on the Gulf Coast and they just experienced epic rainfall. Unless you want to go to Texas with a bucket and start bailing, you need to chill." I really don't buy the corporate line about oil supply and shit. I just hate seeing people getting railed on for shit that isn't in their realm of control.

  29. They did as well as possible working within the limitations of time and the audience. I thought it was excellent with the two focusing on a body part that emphasized the awesomeness of The Elbow. Kairi is the best at selling beyond just getting the physical pain across but also dragging the viewers into rooting for her by way of her indomitable passion etched on her face (so fucking great at emoting). Sure, she may have dropped the elbow selling at the end but that's what WWE mega babyfaces do unfortunately. Look at how Bryan sold in his matches prior to his ascension up the card and compare it to his late '13/early '14 comeback selling. It was more Ultimate Warrior inspired than anything resembling his selling prior to that. I'm not a die hard Stardom fan (my sub to Stardom World goes long stretches without use) but I was always impressed with how Hojo never dropped her selling when she'd get her comebacks. I think only Sami Zayn can rival her in terms of selling but her body language is far more compelling in my opinion. Her matches come off as epic struggles to the death. I jumped out of my chair when she hit her elbow. I thought for sure they'd use the tournament to build up the Survivor Series tag, but I'm so glad they didn't overshadow the tournament with that. Excellent booking, awesome babyface gets the big win and they have their next NXT superstar just as Asuka gets the call-up. I've been a fan of Shayna since she left UFC and started working her way around the indies. She's a top notch grappler (in the ring, less so in the octagon) and very smart in the ring. I really enjoy her subdued form of selling, almost a complete contrast to Kairi's, and it suits her character perfectly. Her strikes are somethings she defo needs to work on but she's got a great platform to build on. Most importantly, she's got the presence down, which is probably the hardest part to nail and something almost every Performance Center entrant just couldn't get as of yet. As for people criticizing her hype because of her MMA record, MMA fighters laugh at Minoru Suzuki getting dominated in sparring by local kids at gyms when he was in the US and Suzuki's MMA record in legitimate competition is downright awful, but he's seen as a real-life killer. Baszler isn't Minoru Suzuki but I think the situations are not completely unrelated. If you continue to build her as a dangerous woman and she keeps on improving, it'll work. Her strikes need immediate improvement though because they kind of deflate her aura as a bully. Overall, the tournament was a bit of a let down in overall quality but as they weeded out the inexperienced wrestlers they wanted to introduce us to and got talented woman vs. talented woman, things naturally picked up. I would think Piper, Jazzy, and Storm get signed but there's no rush because they need to further establish the likes of Dakota Kai, Nixon Newell, Abbey, Lacey Evans, Bianca and the list goes on and on. If it were up to me, I'd shitcan 205 Live and replace it with a pre-taped women's show filmed at Fullsail or some other intimate location. They have too many women and it seems like each show tops out at 2 female programs running simultaneously.

I was wrong, the guy is an idiot and I have no idea how anyone can take him seriously after this. It's like something the dumbest sports talk radio caller would say.

  33. Baszler rules. That's been the larger message of this tournament, at least for me. She's like the closest WWE will ever get to BattlArts and I'm so there for it. I don't know who said it- either someone on here or one of the SC reviews- but the fact that she's using a sleeper hold as the new DDT/Diamond Cutter/RKO is fucking magical. Good match.

  34. Fantastic match. Shocked as shit they put Sane over and didn't go for the Rousey angle. Shayna looked like a killer though. It is funny that we all were convinced Shayna had to win because it was all about setting up an angle and they go ahead and had a pure sports match where the plucky babyface went over. We all worked ourselves into a shoot. About as perfect as it could have gone. Amazing that they're giving mega pushes to two joshi wrestlers. Ross was terrible on commentary and apparently Vince isn't dead because Hunter and Steph were more concerned with this than their pop getting brain damage 30 minutes prior.

  35. It was a good finishing stretch and that elbow is unbelievable. Kairi was receiving a lot of love from a crowd that I'm not even sure if they had watched the MYC but it is doing well streaming numbers. She's already on her way. She's going to be a big deal. Baszler is solid but still a little rough around the edges.

  38. On playing by myself for the first time in a while, and it's damn hard to find teammates. It took me about 10 minutes to find a second for a silver strike team. Once you start, you can generally find people to join, but I wasn't looking forward to trying to solo a silver Remnant strike team. So I waited and waited. That silver strike team was the first time in days I felt like I was operating at a decent level. Teammates were kinda spongy, I was saving them and taking out Destroyers and doing my thing. I usually feel about a step off, due to rust. I'm gonna have to edit this post in a few minutes to liveblog my disappointment pack. I will get the Human Juggernaut X, that's a virtual guarantee. Also guaranteed is the rest of the pack will be worthless, except for maybe an RPG. EDIT: Sure enough: Human Juggernaut X (fine) Talon Bulwark IX (won't use it, don't care) Biotic Power Amp II (don't really use biotic characters) Experience Enhancer I (yawn) First Aid pack. So I got an upgrade for a character I sorta like and a first aid pack for 100,000 credits. That's better than I usually do. DOUBLE EDIT: Just had my funniest experience playing this game yet. Daily challenge map was Firebase Zero, so I put it on that map, Gold Outlaw. Guy with the name "BronxBorn" joins. Given his name, what happened next will hardly surprise you. In his best cliche New Yawk accent, he calls me a pussy and a fucking fag over the game chat for changing the map from "Random" to "Firebase Zero" after getting him on board, and that's a pussy map, etc. Problem was, I needed it for my daily, so it was on Zero the whole time. So he leaves. Whatever. Me and another guy starts. We get a third, a guy who was AFK the entire fucking game. We get a fourth - BronxBorn. Dr. Stout immediately puts him on the DNR list. So he proceeds to not surprise me at all by getting killed 2200 times and taking the only other guy's time to revive him while I ignored him. Meanwhile, I'm having a tough time and have used all but 1 revive by the middle of wave 5. Ut oh. So now I have to count on them to revive me. I die, sit there, and ol' Bronx Boy revives me. So I take him off the list. Of course, I ended up dying with seconds left in extraction and not being able to revive after I used my last one when no one could get to me.

  39. Marise should come out next week with heaphones strapped to her belly blasting Miz's theme into his child's egg sac 24/7. Also Bo Dallas and that other guy whould be carrying her on a litter like she can't walk and Miz should have the director of some posh pre-school in the ring who he will berate for not giving him early acceptance. This should be gold.
