  1. "Once upon a time there were three schlubby journeymen who had problematic BMIs, and they were each working in bingo halls. But I took them away from all that and now they work for me. My name is Hunter."

  2. Hey, look. Minoru Suzuki is taking advice from the Great Sasuke. Can a bump inside a barrel be far off?

  3. If he just wore long tights, it'd be an improvement (not the baggy ones, though). But I'm in the camp that doesn't really care what dude looks like, as long as he's healthy, feeling good about himself and being entertaining.

  4. Dammit. I knew this was coming. Hokay, back in the early 00s when Mike was working for WoW and I was working for UPW, a friend and I came down to visit and hit a WWE show (I think it was a TV taping? I do recall we ended up watching part of it with John Cena when we moved to avoid obnoxious sweary 8 year olds.) Mike had the Dreamcast and Fire Pro Wrestling D. We played each other... Vince Russo vs. Samoa Joe. I played Joe. I got CRITICALLED by Russo. I then made the mistake of telling Joe about it a week or so later... and got chopped.

  5. It's less a feeling that the board is wildly positive on WWE these days and more that, if you just look at what subjects drew the most discussion here over the past year, it's WWE/NXT, the Hardy stuff, Lucha Underground, and New Japan. Probably in that order. There isn't nearly the discussion of the American Indy scene or general lucha or the lesser Japanese promotions as there used to be, and I figure that's likely because the majority of posters aren't watching it with any regularity. Between the fact that this as an aging board and certain prominent posters who used to drive that discussion have departed for other venues, I think our voting base is largely made up of middle-aged dudes with jobs and families who only have x-amount of hours to devote to wrestling each week, and that's going to be WWE, along with whatever has buzz and is easily digestible (Hardy youtube videos, whatever NJPW match Meltzer gave a bunch of stars, etc.) With all that in mind, my feeling was that if you're not watching something, you're not going to have a strong insight or opinion on it, and just vote for the guys/gals you know (WWE/NXT, NJPW, LU, the Hardys), which indeed was an explicit talking point in the 1st round. So either I've Nate Silvered my assessment of the DVDVR electorate, or (and for Rippa's sake, I hope this is the case) people really are watching the videos and considering the debate points and doing their homework before making their choices in these later rounds, now that the homework load is more manageable.

  6. Great times were had last night. Robert, Stout, and I were runnin in the streets bringing a new meanin to the insane clown posse. Me and robert were havin fun with 1 dot after 2 more had ran away. Another green circle appears and comin in hot. Robert finds out its stout. I tell robert, this poor bastard is fixin to get Allahed. Sure enough an explosion breaks the monotonous sound of sniper rifle fire. Pretty much our room with the exception of some dude named after german food and cant remember the other. I threw in the towel expecting to hafta go to work today.....got paid to stay at home, shoulda kept the fight going.

  7. Yeah, he was really behind the 8-ball when he came in. Don't forget his first couple of months were spent getting beat up by the Ascension, then they brought Finn in as his equalizer, who was booked as cooler/better than Hideo in every way. With all the bad injury luck, his WWE run has been the worst case scenario at every turn.

  9. Case? No Mask of The Phantasm IS the best Batman film, no question hands down, end of fuckin discussion! I'm goodam ashamed of myself for not even putting it on my list, it shames as a human being! It can be argued that the Adam West Batman movie might be #2 J.H.

  10. In 30 seconds, Lance Russell proves he's a better promo than 90% of current active wrestlers. And likely still a better announcer than 99% of them.

  11. Is Corgan's legal issue with TNA settled? Because if not, if you're saying he created a gimmick that you're trying to claim as yours (especially if he was under the impression he was running the company at the time)... he could claim for a share of the ownership of the Broken gimmick... and thus force Brother Nero Hardy to become the Smashing Pumpkins' new rhythm guitarist against his will. They could be the touring band champions who do not get along.

  13. J.T. on the XBox is gonna miss it, leaving us without our top tactician to use military terms I don't know. I forgot about that first dude last night. I joined the room, and before I could get into a car, there were about six "Melraz killed" and "Robert killed" this same poor dot. I notice they're on the opposite end of the map from me, so I floor it, thinking "if that sumbitch leaves before I get there, I'm gonna be pissed." He didn't, despite being killed at least 20 times on my drive over. So I Allah Akbared him out of his shoes to add to the misery. I think he eventually went into passive. At one point, he spawned so close to me I could've knocked him down by breathing on him. Talk about adding insult to injury.

  14. Booker T bought part of a mall and turned it into an arena for his promotion. He rents it out to a local boxing promoter every once in a while, so that helps with the overhead. It's not a huge place, but it's nice and a few hundred people can fit in there for a show. If an indy promoter can do it, so can TNA.

  16. This week's ROH TV was pretty fun. -Castle-Gresham was a really enjoyable match that made Gresham look really good while also keeping Castle hot. Loved him catching Gresham into that spinning Bangarang. -Martinez/Whitmer-War Machine was tremendous fun. Martinez looked amazing and I loved Mark Briscoe's call of Martinez' tope: "shades of the freakin' Undertaker!" Personally, I'd bring Truth Martini back, have him enlist Martinez and I'd push Martinez to the moon while he's still there. Martinez as the ROH Bullet Club Hunter would be tremendously entertaining.

  17. When Lance was morally outraged at a heel's actions, you believed that person was the most horrible person on earth. That's how good he is at conveying emotion.

  19. He wore one several years ago, when he first started doing the "Young Knockout Kid" gimmick. I didn't think it was a good look for him. Beyond that, he seems comfortable with his weight. If he doesn't want to wear a singlet, more power to him. Besides, at this point, a singlet probably wouldn't be enough to convince Vince that he's skinny.

  28. I still am of the mindset that Giannis Antetokounmpo needs to get more credit for MVP then he's going to get, especially with the Bucks making a push for the playoffs. Top 15 in PPG and RPG, Top 6 in SPG and BPG, 3rd among all non guards in APG, and shooting 53% from the field on the year. Is there anything he isn't very good at?

  30. The day those Hasbro bastards killed Optimus Prime. ...and the throwaway deaths of Prowl and Ironhide. As child I was legit scared that they would end the movie with a Bumblebee crucifixion scene. I loved that movie but that was just a heart stomping thing to do to a kid who religiously watched G1 pre movie episodes. Could you imagine if Meowth and Team Rocket showed up at Ash's house and carelessly slaughtered charmander and bulbasaur before a heart wrenching Pikachu death scene? No? ...TFTM was the king of unnecessary and sad death scenes. They kill less people in horror movies.

  33. I am officially 35 as of today, it's all downhill from here. How old do I have to be to complain about mundane stupid shit that doesn't matter? 45? 50? OSJ? Old people often argue about children on their lawns, I've heard.

  37. Romo would be on a new team right now if they had let him take more snaps in the Eagles game. They basically telegraphed to the rest of the league that they have every right to be scared shitless of him getting injured. That and Jerry's comments about his eventual release (likely) sealed the deal.

  38. Has there been any talk about moving Impact HQ out of Nashville? Maybe to New York or Toronto? Since Anthem has offices in both or those cities? Or would that been too much of a hassle since TNA has a tax lien on them from Tennessee Irwin R Shyster?

  39. The best set up would've been Corgan essentially in the Jarrett role with Anthem running the business side. But no, Jarrett had to weasel his way in. if you ever get a chance, listen to Corgan on jericho's podcast from a year and a half ago. The guy has a tremendous mind and great ideas for the business. Would have loved to see it play out.
