  4. #ifIcanbeseriousforaminute, Sofia is actually a pretty cool city, and I found my future wife there. Just go to them if you can (pretty much everyone under 30 speaks English). Rusev is from Plovdiv, which is smaller though still viable. And it will be European Capital of Culture in 2019. Back to business.

  5. The real question is do they air a vinegette tomorrow of Alexa taking Becky out backstage, then have Alexa come out for the match, have the ref count to ten only for the announcer to bring out Kane?

  6. So here I am, one of many who makes the occasional post about being fine with TNA going away for good. And then I read that Rosemary does a Van Terminator, Al Snow still gets mic time, and that they brought in Eddie Kingston. Suddenly, I'm glad these tapings came to be.

  12. They should let the $15/month group vote on some stuff that's added to the vault.

  13. I'd bet a "HOF vote" would be a multiple choice option with no write-in choice, probably with candidates already decided.

  14. I mentioned to matt it was pretty surreal seeing Nakamura in rural Maryland. Not to mention wrestling Samoa Joe and AustinAries in a WWE ring

  15. Cedric vs Roode I assume they were exactly the same match as Norfolk but I thought that was a Takeover quality match. Easily the best match on the show. Everything else was just there. I thought Asuka vs Peyton Royce was pretty good and the main was fine although they were clearly taking it easy. Rest of the show was just average. I was impressed with Aliyah in the ring against Liz. It is funny how over No Way Jose is until the bell rings. Granted he is working Elias Sampson who is working like a 1984 heel and it felt like it took forever Really good crowd.

  16. I was a huge mark for early 2000s ROH, but I hate the product now. I would only "upgrade" my subscription if I could get written confirmation from WWE Legal that none of my $14.99 a month would in any way, shape, or form go towards the continued employment of Beer City Bruiser. That, and every episode of Smokey Mountain with Tammy Fytch will be permanently available on the network.

  19. Right but it's Prichard's podcast. Anything that's 1) contrary to anything you've ever heard before and 2) very complimentary to WWE is an absolute fabrication. He swears Mania 7 was moved due ton security concerns, WWE had Meltzer on the payroll to report nice things about them, and that all WWE attendance figures are 100% accurate. When called on anything, his only defense is "were YOU in the room?" It's fun to hear Conrad outright call him on his bullshit, though.

  20. In all fairness, while being in B1G for Football and Basketball haven't been working out well for Rutgers, all the other sports are benefiting greatly from being in a conference with power schools. The whole Rutgers to B1G stuff started when Rutgers had that run 10 years ago where they were running around ranked, and the fans were jumping at the chance to get out of the minnow pond of the Big East and get into a real conference. This is the result of that decision.

  28. Man, that Bisping vs Hendo fight. Bisping was in huge trouble twice. Then, as expected, Hendo gassed out, Bisping got in a rhythm, and that was it. Hell of an effort from Bisping and I'm super sad to see Hendo go. When they went to the 5th round, there was this feeling of dread. I'm sitting there watching the last 5 minutes of Hendo's career. That feeling would just get amplified as each minute passed. Then 30 seconds and the final 10. I got a little teary eyed. I've other fighters retire, but going into this, you knew it was Hendo's last. It was just a very odd feeling. And then I felt even worse when Hendo said his kids couldn't make the trip and you could see the disappointment in Hendo's face when he said that. I'd hope he's very well loved and he loves his kids watching on TV at home all the same. As for Bisping, he's come so fucking far in his career. I'm very happy for him. When Hendo destroyed him at 100, the thought was that no way would Bisping ever get good enough to challenge for a title. He kept at it, hit some bumps along the way, and just kept improving. He kept evolving where so many others in his position didn't. The most shocking thing of all is how much more heart he has. I mean, to take those two bombs from Hendo and keep going is incredible.

  29. Or that Tye Dillinger is the tag team partner of Nakamura and it wasn't as weird as it sounds. Although I think the Richmond show had Nakamura and No Way Jose which is beyond comprehension

  30. Came to plug the post NXT pod i did with Matt. But it didnt save. Good show. No real surprises. Nak, joe, roode, asuka were most over. --- Nxt 10/8 bel air md (~2500) - lince dorado d wesley blake, liv morgan d aliyah, authors of pain d tm61, no way jose d elias samson, bobby roode d cedric alexander, asuka b peyton royce by submission, Shinsuke Nakamura & Ty Dillinger d Samoa Joe & Austin Aries Good solid house show. Nothing bad. Best either main or roode/alexander. Roode was very over with large part of crowd. Who sang his theme. Everyone in main was over, as was asuka. Lots good comedy with aries and dillinger. Peyton got more offense than expected.

  32. If it's similar to Fight Pass, (most) companies would keep their autonomy. Outside of a few unofficial feeder promotions, there are more fight organizations that have only the broadcasting deal with UFC and nothing else than the one or two feeder leagues. I'm worried our Canadian overlords that are the cable companies will not carry the $15 option and I'm forced to use shitty DNS services like when the network first dropped.

  34. Wait, what about all that time when Luck was on a rookie deal? He just got that contract, and the defense and offensive line should have been improved when they had a cheap ass quarterback. Now they have an expensive quarterback, who may already be shot, no defense, no offensive line, and no fucking hope.

  35. I don't care that they lost any or all of those games. I am frustrated by the Norman thing and the general indifference to improving. 15-1 was a bit of a mirage - anyone with an understanding could see that they had flaws and were perhaps playing a bit over their heads. Instead they stand pat and indeed, got worse in the secondary and the chickens have come home to roost.

  36. Okay - from the audio - The WWE told Dave directly that this is what they are hoping to do. Just no exact time table (and George Barrios mentioned them thinking about a tier system like a year ago). Dave made sure to say that NOTHING IS FINAL. That is why they are doing the marketing. - Free (5 hours of On Demand service. No live PPVs, NXT and CWC. You would get the live stream). Would be commercials "all over the place" - $4.99 would include only the Big 4 PPVs. ONLY for phones and tables. You would get NXT but NOT NXT Live events (ie: Takeovers) and no CWC. Commercials would be what you get now. (Alvarez points out that it seems weird they would offer the big shows and not all the PPVs BUT the big shows.) - $9.99 normal. (All the live events, etc...) -$14.99 - include non-WWE promotions - WWE definitely wants TNA and ROH. Not sure if that means Live events AND library or just library. The live events would be similar to UFC Fight pass - $14.99 fans would also get a HOF vote (whatever that would be). Early access to tickets for events. Take part in online chats. 2nd Screen content. Exclusive VIP meetings with talent. (That is what is being looked at doing right now). - Basically Cruiserweight Classic would turn into regular show - Dave isn't sure but there is talk that NXT Tapings would air live for the 9.99 and 14.99 tier. - Dave "can already see this happening" that there will be a market from WWE or a competitor to get all the US Indys with "names". - Dave figures they will definitely talk to EVOLVE and WWN - Dave was told that basically the $4.99 version will definitely happen. - All these will be on month to month basis so you could cancel at anytime. - WWE believes they can make deals with anyone so even if it isn't TNA and ROH they will find stuff. (Dave specifically mentions Progress and other UK groups) - Dave brings up how it would be interesting to see where Lucha Underground feels about all this (mainly with indy guys and how their contract works) - PWG has no interest in streaming live (since it will kill their video sales) and then politics start getting involved in who can win and lose etc (since right now they can get anyone who isn't in WWE and CMLL.)

  37. He's the fucking man. What a beaut'. I fell in love with him after reading that ESPN article about his sister from last year. The fact he's this wiz kid with an obvious wart that he's been working on so hard makes him even more endearing. Go, Cubs, go!

  38. Awesome match from Puma/Matanza. As soon as it was announced, I knew Muertes would get involved in the end but still got sucked in to some of the near falls. Loved Puma's dead lift strength spot. Ivelisse/Mariposa didn't click as much but Ivelisse is still one of my favs.

  43. SHUDDER is fucking amazing. Here is the short list of stuff I plan to watch this month and every movie I mention is available on this delightful streaming service that seems to cater directly to the criminally insane.. 1. Room 237 (2012) - Rodney Ascher's brilliant and CREEPY documentary about how Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is one of the most cryptically interpreted movies of our time. 2. Timecrimes (2007) - YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH IT IS NOT SCI-FI IT IS HORROR. Nacho Vigalondo's mind bender about stalking, being stalked, time travel, and weird shit. 3. Nosferatu (1922) - Yep, we're talking the original silent classic. How awesome is that? 4. Pontypool (2008) - I haven't seen this movie since we reviewed it at Movie Feast. Time for a revisit. 5. Antiviral (2012) - No pressure, Brandon Cronenberg, but your dad is one of the most recognized horror directors that ever lived. This movie had better be good. 6. Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (1974) - Okay, so this is a Spanish zombie movie set in Great Britain.. I'm in. 7. The Stuff (1980) - Larry Cohen's cult classic about food content obsession and aliens may be more relevant today than in any other period of history. 8. The Beast Must Die! (1974) - A werewolf movie like no other. It tries to be a murder mystery and that is when the hilarity begins. Hopefully this movie still has the infamous 30 second "Werewolf Break" that gave audiences time to gather their thoughts about the werewolf's true identity before the big reveal! 9. The House on Sorority Row (1983) What would Halloween movie watching be without a slasher movie and this one is so archetypal that it is both awesome and absurd. There isn't a slasher trope that isn't represented in this movie. Like the original Friday the 13th, it even tries to be a murder mystery and fails spectacularly. 10 Frankenstein's Army (2013) - Just when I think I've had enough found footage, along comes this little gem. It has the interesting premise of documenting a troop of Russian soldiers in the last days of WW2 raiding a German camp and discovering that a descendant of Frankenstein (yep that one) has been doing experiments there. There is enough of a shoestring plot to justify people being attacked by monsters and that is what you really came to see. It is also amazing the things that director Richard Raaphorst was able to put on film with such a miniscule budget.
