  4. Once again, post 1940 or 41 Superman didn't kill. Exceptions that I'm aware of are Whatever Happened To... Where he then immediately removed his powers permanently (it was also an ooc story) and late in John Byrne's run, where he then exiled himself from earth and went insane. There, again, is the answer you say no one ever has even though I've given it several times. "When was Batman ever for kids?". 1939-1985 pretty much continuously. Mostly since then as well, with a few exceptions here and there. Just because it's not fun doesn't mean it's bad. True, but is it really far-fetched to expect a movie featuring two of the most beloved comic book characters be enjoyable and fun? I mean, the vast majority of both characters' history is full of fun stories, even most of the dark ones. There's even humor in stuff like Dark Knight Returns. Critics are making the same complaints they did about Man of Steel. Maybe, just maybe, this movie has a lot of the same issues? If you like it, great. But you ask questions. I answer them. You ignore me. Three months later you ask them again and claim nobody ever had an answer. Snyder makes films that are glossy, hyper stylized, ultra violent films that are often emotionless. It's not shocking that a lot of people, especially film critics, wouldn't like these films. Yes, a lot of people died in The Avengers. But there was also multiple scenes of the Avengers trying to minimize the damage and loss of life, trying to clear civilians out of the fight. Man of Steel has Superman mostly ignoring the people dying all around him during the climatic battle. If that doesn't strike you as being different, I don't know what to tell you.

  11. Hell yes, we definitely do. If I see either of you on at any point, I'll rip the Fallout disc out and sign on. Melraz was teasing me just yesterday, texting me a picture of an Xbox bundle with that new Tom Clancy game. He didn't end up getting it, but I think he's going to soon. Either way, we definitely ought to have another ass-kicking hammer-nail shindig soon. Oh man - HOW did I forget the tanker? The tomfoolery gods were shining on me that night, because I had no idea where Robert was or what he was doing. I was just jogging down the street trying to get back near the action after dying, and I was literally a half a block away when I see a big ass tanker appear out of thin air. I don't pay enough attention to the mini-map, so I'm like "What in the hell? Who stole a tanker to driv-" and that's about the point that my entire screen exploded and I see "Robert killed...." and I absolutely lost my shit. My holy grail...and it will probably never happen (even though I got kind of/sort of close one time) is to Allah Akbar a jet with a helicopter. I will die trying.

  17. I wrote this on the facespace this morning: RIP Phife, aka Phife Dawg, aka the 5 Foot Assassin. When I went to college in 1989, one thing I knew I wanted to do was be a DJ at the college radio station (thanks to Night Flight and Pump Up the Volume). On my first trip down, they gave me some records to listen to and review. I had mentioned that I liked hip-hop, so they tossed in a couple of 12" records. One was "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" by A Tribe Called Quest. I was hooked, and went the next day to the Juniata bookstore and bought the tape (which I still have, and *maybe* a copy of the 12" too). I bought The Low End Theory, unheard, the day it was released and listened to it non-stop for weeks. One of the things I loved was that Phife was on just about every track, a nearly equal contributor, and even had his own solo joint. His higher pitched voice, bouncy flow, clever similes, and pop culture references were a perfect balance to Q-Tip's ultra-smooth voice and flow, his abstract poetics. My junior year, I finally started my own hip-hop radio show. When I had to come up with a name, I immediately thought of "Excursions", the opening cut of The Low End Theory. The last song I ever played on the show, 2 years later? "Vibes and Stuff". A tribute to all the fallen. Seems appropriate now.

  30. I've got a feeling Niners is going to cling to this movie being good like a puppy tugging on someone's pantleg. I don't want to see it at all. I'd resigned myself to catching it on HBO or something down the line, then the wife decided that we should go see the movie this weekend. Fuck my life.

  35. I would place Becky over Sasha for the top woman in this tournament because Becky's year was in a match where she was built like a babyface but had no shot of winning from a booking standpoint, lost and got herself wayyyy over in the process. Then she gets called up to WWE where she's cast as the third wheel to Paige and Charlotte while Sasha was positioned above Tamina and Naomi. Due to bad luck for the division Becky got her shot against Charlotte and get herself over as the only babyface on the roster, got Charlotte over as a heel, and did so well she got herself a Wrestlemania match for the Divas title when the plan was clearly Charlotte vs. Sasha. Nakamura had a great year but spent the last bit of the voting period on the bench waiting for NXT to debut him. But damn is Nakamura really good. It will be interesting in how long he stays in NXT and what role he will have at this time next year. Still I voted for Becky because her road to get where she is was a much harder one than Nakamura's road of having killer matches in New Japan all year long and being a top draw.

  37. I have this weird love/hate thing with Dark Knight Rises. When I watch it, I like it, maybe a lot, except for the horrendous audio mixing that is shit no matter how much I mess around with my audio system. Then I think about it after and I'm like, "fuck that movie, that's the follow-up to TDK?!?"
