  4. Train were the only suitable band available. Say Your Prayers are touring in Japan right now, Eat Your Vitamins are on hiatus while the singer's in rehab, and I think Believe in the Power of Hulkamania had a big inter-band fight and broke up. They couldhave booked one or other of the rival acts suing each other over the rights to the Be A Real American name, but I don't think either one has any of the original line-up left in them.

  7. Discussion of how Asuka should lose her first notable match at Takeover with some bullshit shenanigans are obviously suffering Stockholm Syndrome in relation to typical WWE booking. They don't HAVE to do 50/50 booking with this one, just putting up a strong fight and taking Asuka to the limit would elevate Emma in and of itself.

  10. I don't want to live in a world where I am such a jaded movie enthusiast that I can't sit down and enjoy a deliberately dumb sword and sorcery movie. I am going to break out Hawk The Slayer and The Sword & The Sorcerer this Sunday afternoon when I get back from my kid's birthday party.

  13. FTFY Does it seem odd to anyone else that they had Robbie Brookside running raw recruits through conditioning drills, whilst Billy Gunn was helping the advanced class with their execution of difficult moves? Not exactly playing to their respective strengths, is it? Robbie Brookside, great wrestler, versatile ring general, never really a physique guy. Billy Gunn, always in great shape... yeah. The lad who got fired for having a shoulder injury, was he just a performance centre trainee, or was he a fully trained NXT wrestler? Because if he hits the indy scene doing a gimmick of a guy who intentionally injures people, to take their dreams away (the way his dream was taken) that's a decent gimmick. Nail people with a shoulderbreaker to set up a Wakigatame finish, don't break on the ropes. Lovely bit of stuff.

  15. I actually do remember that, but it never translated to bad reactions for either of them live. Well, at least during the height of the attitude era, crowds did turn on The Rock in 2002. But that also ties into the real point for getting the midcard over as midcarders. Using the previous era, yes- even if they were over, no one was clamoring for the New Age Outlaws or Crash Holly to main event over Austin and The Rock. WWE forgot in time, however, that that's not the point of making them seem important. The point is to use them as that other line of defense- The Outlaws/Crash will never main event over Austin and Rock. Austin and Rock are the stars of the show, but in that event someone doesn't LIKE Austin and Rock? Someone would prefer the New Age Outlaws and Crash Holly? Well, their money's still green too- let them come to the show, cheer their little hearts out for the New Age Outlaws or Crash Holly, and give them just enough to do so that they have a raison d'etre on the programming and make it clear: Even if they'll never be Austin or Rock, they're still here, they still MATTER, and what they're doing is significant too. It's far easier to get away with the fans not being interested in the top act if you're running something with enough people so that there's something for those fans' too, and that's been the bigger issue. Whether it's Reigns now, or Cena for 10 years before that, or Triple H before that- the WWE putting all their eggs into one, and only one, basket is what really started this decline.,,both with the shows, running them as the "[Ace] Smile-Time Variety Hour, with Guest Star 'guy the star beats this week', and a bunch of jobbers"., the audience (which has declined once they decided, if WWE won't give them anyone but this one star and made it clear- you either like THIS person or bust. You have no other options- if you're wrestling fans, it's us or stop watching" and decided, en masse, "well, maybe we'll just stop watching then!", and fans who are savvy enough to know your hero on TV, getting more wins and losses, getting a title- even being World Champion- no longer matters. All that matters is having that one Face of the Company spot...who in the process have decided they'll do whatever it takes to make THEIR favorite be in John Cena's place because it's the only way they'll matter on WWE programming....all of it can go back to that one problem.

  16. I had mentioned doing this a few weeks ago. With it being Black Friday and, consequently, a slow day at work, I thought I would go ahead and get this off the ground. I hope we can do this in a way that it does not clash with our best of 2015 voting. Although the quality of films for year end voting overall in 2015 hasn't been very strong, so this might be a good palate cleanser. This post will be edited over time, as I really would like some feedback as to what is realistic from everyone. Due Date: Sunday, March 27, 2016. Criteria: Any full length film released between 2010 and 2014. We will use Rotten Tomatoes for this, as I feel it better captures theatrical release date over (debuted at 'x' foreign film festival). Ballot Size: Would everyone be open to a ballot size of 50? Is that too big? Would you like a range? How to Vote: For right now, you can PM me your ballot. I am debating whether to just share my personal email as an option or to create an email address for submitting these. I will update this thread We can use this thread for pimping purposes, or I can create another thread for that. I do not have the previous years ballots stored to see how this bored voted on an individual year basis, but I know we have held this vote every year in this decade. Also, at some point, I would appreciate if Caley, Rippa, Hollinger, or anyone else that has manned these things as to what their best practices are on scoring methodology. I am looking forward to using this ballot as a chance to revisit certain films and get other films I have needed to see off my pile of shame.

  19. I had very little trouble in the Glowing Sea as a level 20 something. I just put on my hazmat suit and went for a walk. Toughest thing I saw was a standard deathclaw, or maybe a glowing radscorp. Anyway, it's probably time for me to admit that I have a problem. I'm addicted to building shit in this game. I was up to about 1500 steel, and 900 wood till a couple days ago, but I managed to burn through all of it, and still didn't come close to building everything I wanted. Went and did a couple missions to round up more materials, and I wound up unlocking another settlement. So now I have another place to build out. I started out building fairly normal looking building type things, but the last few have got ridiculous - big ring shaped structures with only a ladder or two touching the ground. At least they should be easy to defend if I ever get attacked.

  21. A return to Japan would be the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. The Beast in the East show was one of my favorite shows this year. It's up there with the Brooklyn Takeover and Wrestlemania. Part of that has to do with the overall aesthetic of how the Japan crew filmed and produced the show. And, I feel like some of us are being trolled with that commercial for Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger.

  22. Elias Samson is a drifter? Huh. So he's not tied to one place and floats from city to city with no real sense of purpose? ... So he's basically imitating the main roster then?

  23. Considering Hogan didn't draw either, you can't really throw the blame at Bryan. And I find it amazing people blame Bryan for the injury, and not the current WWE World Champion for concussing him in the first place.

  24. Good show. Everything feels important. Enzo and Cass have a big match next week (and Cass is coming off of an injury) and their entrance and post match promo let everyone know that there is going to be a fight in London. If this was WWE it would have been cutesy video game style entrances at the start, LOVES TO HAVE FUN in the ring, and then a promo that would have canceled both of those elements out while the WWE Superstar(s) made sure to mention how he/she is going to steal the show. Yuck. I agree with Jax/Asuka. WWE should just let them both run for a while. Don't let them touch. The NXT Divas roster is deep enough for those two to NEVER touch until the pre-WM show (as mentioned). There should be two crews running: the more established (Carmella, Eva, Jax, Bliss, Emma, etc.) going against Bayley while Asuka takes on all the rookies (Dana, Royce, Gia, etc.). Also, what the hell is up with Royce's entrance? That looked very uncomfortable, as if she was TRYING so hard to be sexy and seductive. Sometimes just walking to the ring like a normal person is perfectly fine. Too many Divas are trying (and failing) doing the sexy walk to the ring. Nikki has the hips for it, but the best one to pull it off (and I am not even really a fan of hers) is Fox. anyways...enough talk about lame-4th rate OTT 'sexy' struts to the ring. I like Baron Corbin. He is such a dick and his promos come off as so real. The guy just needs to change his tights. I have never been a fan of that look. Reminds me of Meat Loaf and Bat Out of Hell.

  30. Ugh, I've felt you've been my mortal enemy on the WWE side of things, but goddamn you're right. This show just nails so many things to an almost painful degree. The League was just equal parts awesome and horrible. The DraftKings shit was terrible especially with the subliminal "you can lose in your own league and still WIN IT ALL!" message. Larry David was almost too good. Like he saw what he had to deal with and thought "Pfft, I can make this better." Ruxin was great the entire time. I knew the coin was going to win, but the coin flip on the coin was actually a pretty great idea. Especially with Ruxin's protest. Perfect ending would have been Taco losing his balls and Andre murdering Pete in the final shot. But nope, the writers still think you think that Taco is hysterical and Pete is the hero. That reminds me of something similar in wrestling. Can't remember what... But hey, I'll never have to hear EBDBBBNB as if it was some fucking hilarious showstopping round-of-applause joke on a TV show ever again now.

  31. I may be in the minority, but after Asuka dominating as much as she has I kind of want Emma to squeak out a cheap win. It would up Emma's heel game with a healthy dose of arrogance, plus the rematch would be filled with even more hate.

I think you might be forgetting just how many over acts that got steamrolled by Austin and Rock on a weekly basis. And WWE's been doing the 'Ace beats star' of the week format since long before Triple H. The only reason guys like Rock and Mankind got runs at the top was because of Austin's injury. If Austin had been healthy, Rock and Foley likely wouldn't have had their runs. Rock and Foley's first World Title reigns came as Austin was recovering from an injury. Austin's reign came while Michaels was injured. Michaels' reign came after a full year of Diesel at the top. Diesel's run came after Hart's run at the top following the phasing out/defection of Hogan. Since Hulk Hogan became their top star, WWE's mentality has been "one feature star and a cast of also-rans".
