  2. Do you guys realize we are discussing women's wrestling in a WWE folder and it's about their actual ring/character work? Strange world, this NXT.

  3. Oh yeah, when the woman came over the guardrail to hug Tyler Breeze, I loved that he just had this great smirk that said, "This happens all the time. Can you believe it? Of course you can. I'm Tyler Breeze. Look at me." Glorious.

  9. In Punk's world (and I agree with him), there is no such thing as "main events" plural. There is one main event. It's the match that goes on last.

  10. Kevin Owens is a heel who powerbombed his supposed best friend into the corner of the ring after the biggest win in his career. He then powerbombed him to the point he could no longer get up last night. There are no shades of grey here. There are more in the ending of the 4-way with Charlotte hugging Sasha Banks while she was desperately trying not to cry before shoving her away into character again. In conclusion, Charlotte and Sasha are awesome.

  12. My guess is Vinny would have everyone unmask after a 20 minute promo telling the crowd that no one cares about Luchadaws.

  13. I think if you're gonna wait until the next day to watch a PPV and/or NXT Takeover, you need to either avoid DVDVR altogether or just accept that you're gonna get spoiled.

  14. I read Zayn bringing up Owens getting married and having a kid as a reason Sami made to NXT first, because he devoted his whole life to wrestling and now there is some bitterness from Owens because Zayn was ahead of him.

  15. Yeah, put me in the "There is probably something wrong with you if you see Owens as a face" camp. The NXT authority figure, who has often described himself as a villain, cut a promo where he said he felt like the worst father in the world after Owens attacked Zayn. And I know we're used to announcers in WWE being idiots, but they were selling that beating at the end of the match with "Are you still saying this isn't personal?" He was still attacking Zayn when trainers were trying to attend to him. There is no way, shape, or form, even in wrestling, where Owens' character as it stands today is a face. I think a distinction some people are missing is that people can still like a heel.

  18. Ugh. That video. That interviewer, I wonder if he's ever questioned his life choices. Between this video - hearing The Screech of Missy Hyatt speaking of cock sizes - the video where he's playing name association with Saturn using various drugs of choice (pulling said drug examples out of a gym bag), and almost getting molested by a drunk Jamie Dundee ... it's a wonder he hasn't eaten a 9mm.

  20. Sara Del Rey has done a tremendous job training the ladies and helping them put together their matches. That 4 way was so excellently plotted out but not overdone like so many multi-person matches can get. Everybody came off looking incredible. Once Becky drops that incredibly lame rocker chick thing she's trying, she'll be special. Bayley is on her way. Sasha is the best. Charlotte is a freak athlete, has a good presence, and is going to get a lot better in execution.

  23. My employer just decided to standardize all their benefits for US employees to what our folks in California get. So I just got 8 weeks paternity leave that I wasn't expecting to get this year. Add that to vacation, holidays and getting my next sabbatical in 2 years, and I've got 37 weeks off paid coming to me over the next 3 years. Not gonna complain about that.

  25. He didnt do a review, per se, but did discuss it a few weeks ago in the observer. Basically, thought the actors were great, but the movie was slow.

  26. Owens isn't being presented as an unlikeable dick he's being presented as a guy that will do anything to make a better life for his family even if it means stepping on his best friends neck. He has unlikeable qualities, but he also has qualities that are admirable like most real people. I see no need to change his character to "villainous heel" when his current one feels so real and fresh. Sami saying their relationship changed when Owens got married and had kids kind of makes Sami sound like a dick.

  30. Zayn was so great bumping around for Owens' offense. I was hoping for a package piledriver there at the end, but the way he was totally limp for those last powerbombs ruled too. Owens as the dominant heel is definitely the way to go with all those high-energy underdog faces on the roster who can bounce off him. The next year is looking great.

  31. Itami-Breeze ruled! Bull-Corbin was fun. Tag title match was an amusing clusterfuck - it was like a video game match with bad collision detection. Balor-Neville was a match of the year contender and better than anything on New Beginning. The women's title was even better and had me in tears by the end. Then we got the Sami-Owens hype video, which was so good it was the only thing really needed throughout the night to hype the match up and Kevin just dominated. It wasn't quite Brock-Cena, but it was even better. Sami had A CHANCE with a moonsault, he took a risk, and it cost him as he was "concussed" after the landing and ate powerbomb after powerbomb. One trainer came down, so Kevin prevented aid with TWO POWERBOMBS. TWO MORE POWERBOMBS led to two trainers, and then finally, on the fifth powerbomb, Sami's limp body falls and it's over - Kevin Owens wins the title in only his second WWE match. This was masterful and one of the best shows WWE has ever had their name attached to. 32. Yeah, I don't get this "it's too late for Bayley" talk. NXT booking is really solid. I'm confident they can make it work if they decide to make her champion one day. And she's good enough that she can make it work for herself as well. But yeah, Sasha is great and I practically jumped out of my seat when she scored the pinfall. I don't like Charlotte. I get why she was champion, but I just don't buy into her at all. I don't really watch Raw anymore, so if this the beginning of her start on the main roster, I'd be totally fine with it.

  37. This bothered me too. They were saving up Brock's appearances for that? He should beat someone up *every single time* he shows up. Or at least have him be a guest on Miz TV so he can throw a sofa at Miz again.

  38. That's a big one. Plus Oliver doesn't have to worry about the advertising masters to built around. He's allow to do a 15 minute segment on one topic without interruption, which is pretty great. Additionally, Oliver's show is still fresh right now. If it's on as long Stewart's, people will have their complaints. Someone will declare it stale at some point, etc. I'm not saying Jon Stewart's Daily Show was the best comedy show ever or anything. Still the show had an influence; like it or not.

  40. I think Vince's complex with the towns he runs broke the goofy-meter. I mean Columbus has an MSA of 2 million people and an NHL team and yet the announcers never said "Columbus" once the entire night. Completely ridiculous. That Rikishi video was a thing. One of the most agile big men in history, had the company's last true death move (K-Driller) but hey, MOAR ASS.
