  1. Oh. My. God. Someone traded in their copy of Run-D.M.C.'s first album? Fuck that.

  4. Awkward claim to fame - I used to have hot steamy 15 year old cyber sessions with Emma over ICQ back in the day. As a result of this, she used to rig the raffle for me in her role as barrel girl at the local indy fed that used to operate near Melbourne Airport. The steamy willingness to roleplay as Bubba Ray Dudley won me a Bash n Brawler and a Ric Flair DVD over a magical month in late 2005. Wondering whether its worth finding my old computer at my parents house and finding those chat transcripts between us. ....eh, at least I didn't name drop her real name like that Roman Reigns guy.

  7. I know I'm in the minority around here with that opinion but I don't care because I think I'm right. It's not about the workrate. It's about the stories, the characters & ability to talk. If you can't talk you better damn sure excel somewhere else. People will pop for a finish, they'll cheer the guys they like and boo those they don't & laugh when something is funny but the bell to bell doesn't really matter. Just the finish & the encompassing story. People aren't watching for wrestling psychology or to see who has the best Powerslam. They never have, they never will. WWE for the guys on top don't want someone that's great in-ring, they want someone that is dependable, that is loyal, that is good at PR, that makes them money, that looks good during press conferences, that tows the company line & keeps a clean nose. John Cena is on top not because he's a Bob Backlund or Bret Hart worker but because he's a super-human work horse that does anything they ask of him with a smile on his face & he makes them money. Being a great wrestler on top of that is just a bonus but even if he was the complete shits in the ring, with that work ethic, drive, motivation, look, charisma, etc. they would STILL use him. Believe that. I guess it's a cliché but there is a difference between being a great wrestler and a great entertainer. Being a great pro-wrestler doesn't just mean you can wrestle. People don't pay for normal. They live normal. They go to see shows to get away from normal, daily life & suspend their disbelief for awhile. It's a new era, a new generation. It's a more politically correct world & WWE is publicly traded & have a wellness policy & social media has blown up, etc, yeah, I know. The basics of pro-wrestling will still never change. The crowds aren't behind Daniel Bryan right now because he's a great technical wrestler...

  8. Every day as of late, I have been looking for bloodbaths from Puerto Rico. I come across those but I also come across a thousand other great matches. So tonight, let's celebrate our love for PR Wrestling. I open with these two: God knows I love Ray Gonzalez, but holy fudge does Fidel Sierra rule the motherfucking world. This should be the first thing they show new students at wrezling skool. FUCK the EARTH. If Dick Murdock isn't in your Hall of Fame, you should feel free to go and fuck yourself.

  19. To be fair Benoit and Batista’s wins over Triple H were greatly enhanced and came off as much bigger deals precisely because of all those perceived burials (Jericho, Booker T, RVD, "fuck you and your bogus title too, rookie bitch Brock, I’m pulling Big Gold out of my ass and declaring myself real champ." ) and constant dickish feud-deciding blowoff match wins (Austin, Angle, Kane) that had bolstered him during that five-year stretch. Unless I’m misremembering everybody was also sure he was going over Cena at WM XXII….also precisely because all those big matches and feuds he went over in previously up to that point. So when you look at it that way it made it a much bigger deal when guys did decisively go over Triple H and in some strange way justified that he hadn’t dropped the belt to Booker T or RVD and shit on Goldberg and his profitability with his lame sledgehammer shot at Summerslam that one time. Of course, by now semi-retired Triple H going over the likes of Punk and Brock is just flatout ego-stroking rubbish on his part. It’s TNA Champ Jeff Jarrett type dread heat where no one wants to see the knob go over and it serves absolutely no purpose other than to remind you what a bona fide hot shit big shot the Game always has been and always will be.

  20. Since you mentioned it--your account of that years-ago strip club trip is why I grew to dislike you. I try to not be easily offended. However, I was with your very descriptive account of your visit. Prior to that, I thought you were pretty likeable. Maybe you were going through something at the time and was using the board to work your way through it, as a form of carthasis. I should have been more open-minded to that, but your description seemed vulgar to me. So I labeled you as persona non grata. I went into F*CK OFF BANK HOLDUP mode. I sent you a few PMs in some attempt of letting bygones be bygones, or at the very least agreeing to stay in our respective corners of the board. But then you would come back and laugh with everyone how I had sent you said messages. I wasn't embarrassed by your so-called revelations. I just thought it was a sh*tty thing to do. I was sincere in my PMs and thought they were the best way of communicating about our differences. But I guess you didn't believe me. And it reinforced my already negative opinion of you. ETC ETC ETC What the fuck is this? You're posting on a pro wrestling board, by no means a bastion of the values of Susan B. Anthony, and you're offended because some drunk guy posted he liked the smell of stripper perfume? And then are appauled that he can't take whatever issues you conveyed via PM seriously? Talk about neurotic.

  21. Have no idea what's happened to him, but he was one of my favourite posters on here. He didn't post a whole lot, but when he did, his posts were almost always awesome. Always had a Jim Cornette avatar, and started the original WON quotes thread for those who don't recall him. Nice guy too. When I first became curious about subscribing to the Observer, he sent me a PDF of that week's issue to give me a taste of it. We both posted on a message board called The Oratory, which was a subsite of rajah.com. Have no idea if either of those sites are still around. Xavier Von Erck aka Angry German aka the guy behind Perverted Justice also posted there, and when the Feinstein thing blew up, a link was posted to DVDVR where Von Erck was trying to explain it all. That was my first visit here, and I honestly fell in love with the place. The green, the Reviews, the obscure shit... I loved it all. Unfortunately, wrestling doesn't hold my interest any more, but some worthwhile discussions have kept me coming back here almost every day.

  23. A smart company when attempting to build a star might just think about not feeding them shit, though. Keep in mind that they've killed off everybody else's momentum in the entire company and realize that maybe their way isnt working. In the main event scene you have Orton, Cena, Bryan, and Batista as names that move the needle. Below them you have the Shield and Wyatts, and then there's a vast chasm below with everybody else on the roster. Several dozen bits of filler thanks to a decade of pisspoor booking. You want to know why the Attitude era guys are still so over? Because they were booked to fucking matter no matter what their position on the card. Spike Dudley mattered more on his roster than 85% of the current active roster.

  24. Lesnar and Punk both lost steam after their feud with HHH. Bryan would've too if the fans didn't revolt. Right now, even though he is a non-wrestler HHH presents himself as top dog. He shows no ass and it is presented that he could prob be world champ if he wanted to be. He just doesn't feel like it. This wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it was building to Bryan bringing him down at mania. However, we know two things. 1.) He did this exact same routine 2.5 years back which somehow resulted in face COO HHH going over red hot face CM Punk and Kevin Nash embarrassing himself. 2.) The plan as of a few weeks ago was HHH v Punk at mania. Meaning the logical conclusion to the Bryan- HHH storyline wasn't going to happen.

  26. One of the cool things was, Christian never pins with that springboard sunset flip - I can only remember one Survivor Series where he got Ted Dibiase Jr. with it - but he did it to Jack Swagger on Monday! I was wondering why. Then when he went for the springboard again on Friday, it made me think he was planning for that finish. Christian's avoided doing it to Orton in the past because of the world title loss finish from 2011, but they haven't fought in a long time. Maybe he reverted to old habits and it bit him. Neat little detail! One of the reasons I've always looked at Christian as an underrated guy.

  28. Okay, here's my stance. I am disappointed they chose to put it on the network but I can see why they did. I think they wanted to avoid the THEY SAID EVERYTHING! crowd and just edit it, put it up and hopefully it wouldn't receive much attention. Obviously they were wrong.. it's still receiving a ton of attention but unlike some other posters I do not feel it was WWE's intention to profit from Owen's death nor do I feel someone is terrible for watching the show (I won't be watching it) because maybe they really did love The Union angle.. Maybe they really do want to see the title change.. there are numerous reasons and I'm not about to pick the brain of a million subscribers.

  29. i've been watching all the Raws/Nitros/PPVs/etc from the attitude era. been doing it for about 18 months, watching them in real time. i have all intentions of watching Over the Edge '99 when the time comes. i didn't see it live, and i debated it in my head, but i decided to watch it regardless. then again, i have no problem watching Benoit matches, so factor that in however you want.

  31. I'm finding it hard to imagine Luke Harper in that role, as the whipping boy, just because of the massive difference in size between him and Delaney. I mean the whole thing with Delaney is that he was tiny compared to the guys he was up against, even Shelton Benjamin would have towered over him. Where as Harper looks a lot more like he can hold his own against guys like Kane & The Great Khali so it'd presumably have meant a lot less sympathy for him, which is what put the whole angle over if I remember right. On the other hand, it'd have made the heel turn way more interesting. And from that perspective he could probably have hung around. But in the long-term I'm glad it didn't go that way, 4 more years on the indies before going to Florida just meant he was a lot better & more experienced, & he got to come in with a gimmick which has really worked.

  33. BATES MOTEL episode 3: SEX DUNGEON. Because if there's one thing TV has taught me, it's that no sleepy small town is complete without a sex dungeon, preferably located in the basement of one of it's most upstanding citizens. Not enough Cystic Fibrosis Girl for my liking. Emma. Her name is Emma Decody. She's trying to solve a MYSTERY, and her name is DECODE-y.

  34. Credit to AAA, Alexis Salazar, Black Terry Jr, EMLL, Gonzalo Lopez, IWRG NOTICIAS If you remember ABC's celebrity high diving show from last year called Splash, well Televisa has their own version in Mexico called "El Gran Chapuzon" and competing on that show will be AAA performer Elegido. 36. Ask about FMW in the puro forum. Bahu will hook you up. In general, I enjoyed mid-90's FMW quite a bit. Before the mid-90's, it tends to be all Onita, All the Time working the deatmatches against guys like Mr. Pogo. Not much workrate there. In the mid-90's, it starts to open up a bit and you get things like the Funk Masters of Wrestling (heel group led by Terry Funk). Then the focus starts to shift to Hayabusa more, you get things like the awesome (and seemingly never-ending) Hayabusa-Gannosuke feud, Masata Tanaka rises up the card, etc. Late 90's, you hit the Onita heel turn (complete with Bret Hart tribute tights), The rise of Gannosuke as a top heel, and finally Team No Respect. No Respect might be my favorite heel faction not the 80's Four Horsemen, After Team No Respect, the promotion turned fully towards sports entertainment and gleefully rocketed itself into oblivion, so the last few years are fairly skippable.
