  1. So that ending was just mental, right? Like if anyone who wasn't following closely tuned into the last 15 minutes, that must have seemed like the most bizarre sequence of events and character reactions. This angle is being booked according to the Werner Herzog school of philosophical ecstasy (yes, I watched the TCM show about FRITZCARRALDO tonight)...Like, I could hear his voice: "The giant has made the mistake of claiming humanity in the natural world, a world made up of only fornication and asphyxiation. His folly is to believe in the fairy tale of morality that we learn as children so that our parents might sleep at night without fear that we will kill them. The small bearded man has embraced the pain and the chaos that is the order of the world. He will thrive and breathe deeply until his slaughter which will happen soon. Which will suffer more? Undoubtedly the giant."

  4. It was a typo. They meant 2021. They'll own the Champions of the Galaxy tape library then.I would watch the shit out of some Wolf v. Lord Nexus matches.

  5. Did you guys hear Bryan's reaction when he came out tonight and interrupted Triple H's promo? Did you hear the reaction when he came out on Smackdown with the chair? Did you hear the reaction when he kept attacking Big Show as Big Show cried? Did you hear the crowd chant "You sold out!" at the Big Show? So, how is Bryan being buried? Every time he gets beat down, he becomes a bigger and bigger star. I think he's getting even bigger reactions now than he did pre-Summerslam. Bryan is teflon. It's not like Fandango is one-punching him unconscious: he's getting beaten by three guys at once/the biggest guy on the roster/the world champion, and it's never clean one-on-one.

  11. I really don't understand what everyone is complaining about. This angle, for the most part,is brilliant. And remarkably subversive. The reason why none of the other faces are standing up for DB is because they are essentially brainwashed by the WWE.They believe, like Cena, there is no other place to wrestle other than the WWE. Only DB sees the world differently. He's already stated that if he was fired tomorrow, he'd just go back wrestling in high school gymnasiums. But they won't fire him, because he's too popular and makes them money.I just think it's a really well thought storyline, one of the best they've had in a while.

  14. Of course he doesn't win at NOC. Why would he? It would be like opening a movie with Batman in trouble, then twenty minutes later, he's the winner. I really think, at this point, the WM main event will be Bryan/Orton and Cena/Undertaker (or Lesnar or something), so settle in for the long haul, or start watching TNA where angles are hotshot every week. Wrestling smarks have to have the shortest amounts of patience of any fans ever: "Come on, this has been going on for two weeks now! Where's the payoff!?" Seriously, people, two weeks. That's it. The Triple H turn was on August 17th, today is September 2nd. Also, I seriously doubt we're going to get anyone standing up to the new corporation on Raw, it's probably going to come on a PPV. You want your big pop/big moment, you've gotta pay for it.

  15. It's so hard to read sarcasm online. I assume some people are being sarcastic with the burial stuff, right? I think the only guy that is getting hurt in this is Big Show. Between Rhodes/Orton and Cody's promo, it left me wondering where the fuck that guy has been the past few months? I enjoy Orton mockingly firing up the crowd before the RKO. It's like he's saying, "Yeah I know this whole pre-finisher routine was stupid but you guys cheered for it so I had to keep doing it." I actually had to check to see if the PPV was this Sunday after the Punk promo. It felt like a go-home show deal.

  16. I'm starting too feel that way too. Going past building heatand into emasculating the roster. Cody's exit promo was the first good thing he's done since losing the mask.

  22. "want some cocaine?" This looks like a promotional pic for the world's sleaziest buddy cop show. Like one's a convicted pederast, the other does PCP and Kills hookers, all while coked up police chief Gary Hart uses the cops to enact vengeance on his drug dealer rivals. I'd watch the fuck out of that show! It would make NBC a contender again! James

Also the SES stuff reminds me. With Luke Gallows out of TNA WWE should bring him as Heyman's enforcer against CM Punk. With Heyman cutting promos about how CM Punk manipulated him and used him only to throw him away when he was of no more value. Have Gallows cut a promo about he used to believe in Punk, they were gonna change the world together, but now all Punk cares about title belts and petty revenge. Have gallows say I used to think you were my savior, now I think I have to save you.

  24. After a really shitty last month and a half, things are looking up. Last month I lost my job at the nursing home due to some total bullshit, my car died, and the home was contesting my unemployment benefits. I interviewed at a pest removal company, of all things. Well, I got the job. It's more money than I was making and I get a company vehicle. Now, I had to resign from the strip club I've DJ 'd at part time for the last seven years, as the new job requires all my attention. It's a little bittersweet as I've made a lot of friends here and the manager has always givenme hours whenever I needed them. This is my last week here, and I'm currently sitting here bored as there are almost no customers. But one of the girls just went home and she tipped me out 100 bucks. So things are pretty cool.

  27. I'm amazed they haven't done a fake one of these already. Where they have a bunch of idiots who think they are actually training to go to Mars and make them do all sorts of idiotic stuff while we laugh at them...and then put them through some simulated launch and have it malfunction so they shit their pants...and then set them up somewhere barren and tell them they're on Mars and then have some guy in a monster suit attack them. If they did it right, maybe they could have the Martians test to see if the "contestants" were willing to betray earth to save their own lives and help the Martians invade by telling them all about us and our biology and our cities. And if they refuse, and die as free proud Earthians, they end up winning a MILLION DOLLARS! And if they cave, and betray the home world, they are sent to prison for aiding our potential enemies who may be monitoring out broadcasts for signs of weakness.

  28. This is pretty spot on. There are actually two characters here who are behaving differently than everyone in the history of WWE. Bryan, by acknowledging that he can easily survive in a world that apparently (who knew!) exists outside of "The WWE UNIVERSE!!!" and HHH who is making it clear that the Austin thing won't work with him. It always used to be that if the boss told you not to do something or you'd get fired...you just stunnered/rock bottomed/whtavered the boss...and he would be so mad that he would keep you around to try and destroy you...and end up losing his company to you or something. HHH is short-circuiting that, which makes sense considering that's exactly what he used to do to Vince and he understands the ploy It is clear that if you attack him...he'll just fire you. That's new too. (except that he's conspicuously not doing that with Bryan himself..apparently just not being afraid of him or because as you said he knows firing him won't hurt him since he can actually survive in the world. This one mistake should be his downfall). So both sides in this story are off the normal script. the Bryan thing is, as you put it, more subversive and makes him seem like the only real person in the company.

  34. I've seen people downing this as an episode where "nothing happened," and it is a piece-mover episode, but there was so much good character stuff in here. The Skyler thing is harsh and represents an extreme evolution in her character, but it works because it's such a natural outgrowth of her character. It's 1+1=2. She doesn't know Jesse. He's just another drug dealer to her. And if Walt has killed other drug dealers to protect their family, why wouldn't he kill Jesse, too? And, of course, Walt just can't come out and admit that Jesse is more than that to him. Speaking of...I love it when I hear my own thoughts come out of the characters' mouths, so I was like YES, HANK! when he said that it sounded like Walt cared about Jesse and did everything he did to him to make him stay. And then Jesse comes back over the top with the great, "Yeah, he's gay for me!" line, which is a fantastic line for his charcter but will surely be taken out of context and repurposed for unfortuante Internet memes. Jesse's whole breakdown of how Walt works was amazing, and I loved that he added that, not only is Walt smart, he's also really lucky, which was a great acknowledgement by the writers that, yeah, sometimes Walt gets off by chance or by events transpring in the most convenient way possible for him.

  36. Really surprised no mention of this yet. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-09-01/hayao-miyazaki-to-retire-from-making-feature-films Really sad to see him go even though I think he lost his golden touch a while ago and I haven't been blown away by anything he or Ghibli in general has done (except Arrietty) since Spirited Away and that was released over a decade ago.... Still, 8 of the 10 movies he's produced that i've seen (obv haven't seen Wind Rises yet) are classics to me and that's a track record that's hard to beat.
